Two-Pack & Epoxy

Two-pack and epoxy paints (part A and part B) are designed to protect steelwork, machinery and equipment from corrosion, degeneration or damage. Most automotive and household paints are designed for decorative appeal, which differs from the products we utilise.

Our paints offer defence-grade protection against age, the environment and chemical actions. We achieve this through individual paint specifications, which detail the blast profile, cleaning requirements, coating system and thickness needs for each coat.

Experienced and Skilled Team

Our staff has a wealth of knowledge in coatings and can find a solution to any problem you may have. As the expenses for repair and re-work of coatings far outweigh the initial cost, it is essential to choose the right paint for each job to ensure the longest possible lifespan. Some of the paint systems used ranges from single-pack oxides, two-pack epoxy and polyurethane coats, heat temperature restraint paints and phosphate primers. We also utilise inorganic zinc-rich and high-build systems designed to protect steel or substrate from corrosion in the environment it faces.

Robust and Durable

Any surface that has been professionally blasted like structural steel, military and marine items can be coated to provide many years of visual and structural integrity. At WABS, it is common practice to document coating application records for quality assurance purposes at clients’ request.

Our NACE 2 qualified Coating Inspector performs daily readings three times per day along with other compliance checks. Our QMS is ISO and PCCP accredited.

30+ Years of Experience

Polyurea

With many experienced applicators, WABS has been providing professional polyurea coatings for over ten years. Polyurea coatings are becoming increasingly popular to protect steelwork from corrosion due to the long lifespan of the coating—up to 30 years. The coating can be applied to any thickness in one seamless membrane and is ideal for industries with high-impact wear areas. Such as sacrificial coating to protect components as in the mining and defence sector.

Polyurea coating can provide a flexible, durable, weather-tight resistant seal to many substrates, including steel pipes, pipelines, bridges, rails, tunnels, tank lining and marine items. It can stick to any substrate and is dry after each application allowing for a quick turnaround time. It can also be tinted in different colours to give a decorative appeal.

Intumescent Protection

Intumescent steel coatings are fire-resistant coatings designed to protect the structural integrity of buildings in the event of a fire. The stability of a building depends on the load-bearing structural steel. Steel loses its load-bearing capacity when its temperature rises above 550ºC, as in the event of a fire. Therefore, structural steel protection with intumescent coatings is required to preserve the stability of the building structure during a fire.

We proudly use Nullifire SC902 and work closely with their engineers to ensure the correct surface preparation and application details are calculated before starting any job. SC902 is designed to provide up to 120 minutes of fire resistance to ‘I’ section beams, columns, hollow columns, concrete-filled hollow columns, cellular beams and solid steel rods. Our team has applied it in many projects, such as the QLD Country Bank Stadium and Gladstone Carinity Education.

Hot Metal Spray

The thermal metal spray has come a long way with newer technology, and pre-alloyed wires are available for longer life and more resilient coatings. The basic concept of this process is to arc two wires together and then push a high-volume air behind that arc, scattering the molten arc into fine particles. These particles are then propelled onto a pre-prepared substrate, where they solidify.

Metal spray coatings are far superior to conventional coatings. They offer a proven, well-documented, long-term protection against elements that may degenerate the substrate. Zinc and aluminium thermal spray coatings can provide many years of life (up to 50+ years). With the coating being instantly ready for service after application, we can apply it in broader and more diverse climatic conditions than conventional paints. They can also be used for various applications, from galvanic protection, corrosion protection, wear-resistance to non-skid surfaces.
